Online Professional Development Workshop

The Virtual Centre for Innovative Learning Technologies of the University of Mauritius, is a partner of the SIDECAP project on “Distributed Education”, lead by the Open University of the United Kingdom. In this context, the University of Mauritius has acquired a number of high quality learning units from the Open University of UK to be delivered fully online and targeted to the professional development of educators at all levels.

The courses are completely online, and delivered on self-learning mode. At the end of the course, participants are offered a certificate of successful completion of the University of Mauritius.

The online course is delivered into two components:

1. Educational Practices and Philosophy

· Parents as Partners (16 hours)

· Teaching for Good Behaviour (10 hours)

· Play, Learning and the Brain (15 hours)

2. Innovation & Creativity in Teaching and Learning

· Educational Information: Search, Retrieval and Organisation (10 hours)

· Digital Media as a Teaching Tool (10 hours)

· Creativity, Community and ICT (20 hours)

There is no tuition fee for the above mentioned courses except a registration fee of Rs 350 per course component to cover the basic administrative costs for the programme. As part of the course, participants get access to the e-learning platform, basic technical support, a pendrive with open-source educational software and UoM certificate of successful completion.

Participants wishing to enrol for both courses will have a reduced registration fee of Rs 500.

Those not wishing to get certificate/additional material/pendrive etc can audit the courses without any cost. Tick the "audit only" checkbox in the online application form.
